Player report

Ahmad Mendes Moreira

Kalamata FC · Super League Greece · second striker / left winger · player report

A technically gifted, left-footed attacker whose game is built on passing, quick decisions and chance creation. He finds solutions in tight spaces, combines well and has a wide passing range, from short combinations to long balls in behind. His main weakness is defensive commitment: he rarely drops to help, does not track runners and is passive when crosses come in. He also protests frequently to referees. His best role is as a creative second striker in a front two, freed from heavy defensive duties.

Verdict

First-team level for a short-term contract

Scouting question

What does an experienced, left-footed attacker add in possession, what does he cost his team without the ball, and which role gets the most out of him?

Assessment

  • Strength
  • Average / inconsistent
  • Weakness

Technical

  • Passing — Strength

His standout attribute. Wide range — short combinations, crosses and accurate long passes that find runners behind the defensive line.

  • Chance creation — Strength

Regularly creates finishing situations for team-mates; three assists in his first five league matches.

  • Ball carrying and dribbling — Strength

Comfortable on the ball. Not an explosive dribbler, but beats his man and releases the cross or pass quickly.

  • Play in tight spaces — Strength

Finds solutions quickly with little space, receiving and building between the lines.

  • Ball security — Strength

Rarely gives the ball away; protects it and looks for options without taking excessive risks.

  • Set pieces — Strength

Takes his team's crossing set pieces (corners and wide free kicks); one of the assists in the observed matches came from a corner.

  • Weak foot — Weakness

Uses his right foot very little, which makes his actions more predictable.

  • Shooting — Average / inconsistent

Takes some shots and is not poor at it, but it is not a strength.

  • Goal output — Weakness

Not a goalscorer: no goals in his first five league matches.

Physical

  • Strength and body use — Strength

Uses his body well to shield the ball.

  • Drawing fouls — Strength

Attracts contact and wins free kicks, relieving pressure and creating set-piece chances.

  • Availability and stamina — Strength

Played the full 90 minutes in all three observed matches — partly because he saves energy by rarely dropping deep.

  • Pace — Average / inconsistent

Not slow, not quick; he doesn't rely on speed to beat opponents.

  • Age profile — Average / inconsistent

An experienced player, best suited to a one- or two-year deal.

Mental

  • Decision speed — Strength

Decides quickly on the ball — comes out of the dribble and immediately finds the cross or pass.

  • Team-first mindset — Strength

Chooses the pass and the combination over individual actions.

  • Defensive commitment — Weakness

Low willingness to contribute without the ball; rarely drops to help team-mates.

  • Emotional control — Weakness

Protests frequently against referee decisions; two yellow cards in his first five league matches.

Tactical

  • Inside movement — Strength

Starts on the left with strong inside tendencies, drifting into central areas and half-spaces to receive.

  • Arrival in the box — Strength

When the ball is on the far side, he often appears in finishing zones as an extra attacker.

  • Playmaker profile — Strength

Prefers to receive to feet and organise the attack; best as a second striker in a front two (used that way in a 5-3-2), but can also play wide left or as an attacking midfielder.

  • Runs in behind — Average / inconsistent

Rarely attacks the space behind the defence; almost always comes short.

  • Pressing — Average / inconsistent

Takes part in the press, but without much intensity.

  • Tracking runners — Weakness

Doesn't consistently follow the opposing full-back's forward runs, which can leave his own full-back facing a 2v1.

  • Defending crosses and the box — Weakness

Doesn't close down crossers enough and is passive when the ball arrives in his zone in the box.

  • Defensive consistency — Average / inconsistent

Shows occasional good defensive actions, but not consistently — defending remains his biggest weakness.

Interpretation

He is a creator rather than a scorer. His best role is as a second striker in a front two, where he is freed from heavy defensive duties and his passing and inside movement count most; roles with a large defensive workload would expose his main weakness. As an experienced player, he profiles as a short-term first-team option rather than a long-term investment.

Summary

Strengths

  • Passing range and chance creation
  • Quick decisions in tight spaces
  • Set-piece delivery from the left
  • Ball security and drawing fouls

To improve

  • Defensive commitment: track runners, support the full-back, press with more intensity and close down crossers
  • Right foot, to be less predictable in 1v1s and in the final pass
  • Shooting, and turning arrivals in the box into goals
  • Emotional control: fewer protests and avoidable cards

Method

Three full league matches watched on video, plus highlights of the others. Each attribute is rated as a strength, average/inconsistent, or a weakness, and every rating is written as something observed. Official match facts (appearances, assists, cards) were used to check the observations; no app ratings or third-party valuations are part of the assessment.

Evidence used

My own observation of three complete matches against Aris, Volos and Panathinaikos, and official league match facts for the first five matchdays of the season (appearances, assists and cards). Match statistics from data providers were consulted while writing but are not reproduced here.

Uncertainty and limits

  • Three full matches is a small sample, taken early in the season.
  • Video shows only part of the off-ball work, so defensive judgements are the least certain part of the report.
  • Fit for a specific squad and game model is not assessed in this public version.

About this version

This is an adapted public version of a player report I wrote in English in October 2026. Personal details, contract and market information, career history and squad-fit recommendations from the original are not included.
